With nearly 200 aquatic birds rescued in the avian botulism outbreak on the Lower Klamath Wildlife Refuge, to date 144 have been released. Currently there are 19 birds still in care at the BAX/USFWS field hospital. Since temperatures are supposed to dip below freezing this week, it is believed that the outbreak will soon be over.
